Re: Friends of Millbrook Chapel of Rest.
At Millbrook CE Primary School we are in full support of the project to re-invent the Chapel of Rest as a community interest space.
At school we have regular topics with close links to local history and geography and the environment. We take groups of pupils on excursions into the community to learn more. A centre in the chapel of rest to visit with pupils where we can deepen learning and understanding about the local area will significantly support our topic work. It will provide a resource that will enable more hands on and real life learning scenarios for our children.
We are keen that our children grow up as members of the Millbrook Community with a good understanding of the local ecology and local heritage. Involvement with the centre would help our children to develop their sense of community responsibility and their role as environmental and community guardians of the future.
At school we firmly believe that this building could become a valuable resource in educating our children about their heritage and local area so that they may become better citizens in the future.
Yours sincerely

To whom it may concern
As chairman of Millbrook Parish Council I am pleased to be able to support this application. I attended the first meeting at All Saints Church in Millbrook when the decision to sell the Mortuary Chapel was announced. The building has long term associations with the Parish and there is a great strength of feeling that it should remain as a community asset.
It had been previously suggested that the Parish Council purchase the building, but in its current condition was considered too great a liability for a small Parish Council to take on.
I was therefore delighted when a group of local enthusiasts decided to try and raise the funds to purchase and refurbish the Chapel and open it as a Heritage and Educational centre. The Friends of Millbrook Chapel of Rest have been busy since the spring investigating sources of funding and putting the group on a firm legal footing. It is run by a committee of 8 residents, chaired by an active and experienced Parish Councillor, committed to enhancing the village environment. He has most recently been responsible for managing a Council project called 'Get Millbrook Buzzing' that locally addressed issues raised in the National Pollinator Strategy.
I am convinced that upon securing the Chapel as a community resource, the group will go on to develop it as an important feature of the village, depicting the heritage of the area.
On behalf of Millbrook Parish Council I wholeheartedly support this application and believe that the refurbishment of the Chapel will be a valuable addition to facilities in the village.
Yours sincerely
Councillor Don Wood
Chairman, Millbrook Parish Council.
