The Friends of Millbrook Chapel of Rest
The Rame Centre, three West Street, Millbrook, Cornwall. PL10 1AA
We are a community interest company that want to conserve a historic chapel in south-east Cornwall as a heritage asset. Our aims are to:-
We launched our organisation in the summer of 2017 following a decision by the Church of England to sell the Chapel. As a group of concerned Millbrook residents we thought this charming building should remain as a community space. We held an Open Day and found that many local people thought the same as us. So, we took advice and formed ourselves into a Community Interest Company, limited by guarantee. Our three directors are all unpaid volunteers with no share ownership.
We are now promoting our cause far and wide...!
Phase One was completed in September 2020. After 3 years of fund raising and negotiation with the Church Commissioners we have purchased the Chapel. Now e need funds to begin Phase 2.
Phase Two will see the repair and refurbishment of the Chapel, transforming an old and unused building into a vibrant Heritage Centre - a place where shared stories, histories and links to our ancestors can be brought to life.
As an Educational Centre it will provide a learning space for children and adults, exploring the wildlife in the adjacent graveyard or finding out about the history of the community of which they are a part.
Your support and contributions will enable us to realise our vision. Your generous donation will help fund our mission.
